E-Sign Consent Disclosure
Last updated · 2026-05-18
What this disclosure is for
U.S. federal law (the ESIGN Act, 15 U.S.C. §7001) and most U.S. states (under UETA) recognize electronic signatures and electronic records as legally equivalent to paper signatures and records, provided certain consumer disclosures are made and the signer consents to the electronic format. Canada recognizes electronic signatures under PIPEDA and provincial e-commerce legislation, subject to similar consent and reliability conditions.
By signing a document through KeenDraft you are agreeing to use electronic signatures and to receive related records electronically. This page explains what that means.
What you are agreeing to
- Receiving the document you've been invited to sign electronically.
- Affixing your typed name, drawn signature, or uploaded signature image to that document as your legally binding electronic signature.
- Receiving the fully signed PDF and Certificate of Completion electronically once everyone has signed.
Hardware and software you need
To use KeenDraft you need:
- A current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari (desktop or mobile).
- An active email account to receive the magic link and any signed copies.
- A device that can render PDFs.
- Reliable internet connectivity.
Withdrawing consent or signing on paper
You can withdraw consent at any point before you sign by clicking the "Decline" button on the signing screen and providing a reason. The sender will be notified that you declined electronically. If you prefer to sign on paper instead, contact the sender directly to arrange that.
Once you have signed, the electronic record stands. Withdrawing consent after signing doesn't invalidate the signature you already provided, but you can contact us at support@keendraft.com if you believe the signing was unauthorized.
Retention and access to your records
The signed PDF includes a Certificate of Completion that summarizes the audit trail. We retain it for at least the period required by applicable law (typically seven years). You can re-download it at any time from the link the sender shares with you, or by requesting a copy from the sender directly.
For records held by us, you can ask for a paper copy at any time by emailing support@keendraft.com. We will provide it free of charge once per envelope.
Updating your contact information
You signed via the email address the sender used to invite you. If that address changes, ask the sender to re-issue an invitation to your new email — we cannot change a recipient's email mid-flow without a new invitation.
